Dear City Collaborators,

we at the Urban Studies unit of the University of Basel are excited to welcome you to the fourth edition of the annual City Collaboratory meeting on Friday, 22 May 2026.

The day’s programme, folded into the theme “Urban Research and Pedagogical Agendas in Switzerland”, reinvigorates the Collaboratory’s mission to make visible the diversity of urban studies scholarship across Swiss institutions. Framed around a cluster of roundtable and interactive discussions, this year’s meeting brings into conversation urban scholars whose disciplinary specialisation does not usually bring them into sustained conversation. We are particularly interested in strengthening the possibilities of network amongst early-career researchers and students interested in urban questions related to ways of knowing the city/urban, the scales at which we do so, and ongoing interventions that shape urban futures, before visiting an exhibition curated by students of our “Urban across Geographies” cohort of students then concluding with a networking reception.
