Dear City Collaborators,

we at the Urban Studies unit of the University of Basel are excited to welcome you to the fourth edition of the annual City Collaboratory meeting on Friday, 25 September 2026.

The day’s programme will reinvigorate the Collaboratory’s mission to make visible the diversity of urban studies scholarship across Swiss institutions. This year’s meeting will bring into conversation urban scholars whose disciplinary specialisation does not usually bring them into sustained conversation. It begins with two plenary sessions: the first is led by Kenny entitled, “Planetary Repairs: Extractivism, Ecology, and Restitutive Research”. The second, will be led by Jon Schubert and is entitled “from platform capitalism to techno-authoritarianism”. After lunch, is a city tour focusing on ongoing urban re-generation initiative run by Basel’s planning department. We will end in the usual spirit of networking and getting to know each other in a relaxed setting at a catered apero.
