Welcome Dipesh Chakrabarty for our Distinguished Lecturer position in Urban Studies

We are proud to host Professor Dipesh Chakrabarty for our Distinguished Lecturer position this Spring semester. He will be teaching a course entitled ”From the Global to the Planetary Turn in the Humanities”.
 
Dr. Dipesh Chakrabarty is the Lawrence A. Kimpton Distinguished Service Professor of History, South Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago and a leading scholar of postcolonial theory, subaltern studies, and the planetary humanities.
 
In collaboration with the European and Global Studies Institute and the History Department, we are hosting a lecture on Wednesday 19 June (4.15-6pm, Alte Universität, Hörsaal), entitled “The Planetary Turn in Human History”.
